PROGRAM OF THE INTERNATIONAL DAY OF THE SEAFARERS IN VILLEFRANCHE-SUR-MER

25 JUNE 2018

  • From 9.00 am to 12 noon and 1.30 pm to 5.00 pm: water activities and guided tours free of charge

 

  • POINTUS OF THE ABPV = Meet at the jetty opposite the Welcome Hotel

From 9.00 am to 12 noon and 1.30 to 4.30 pm

  • Free Boat trips in the Harbor of Villefranche from the Port of la Santé
  • Free shuttle service between the Port of la Santé and the Port of la Darse

 

  • THE VILLEFRANCHE GIG = €5 / person (including insurance) instead of €10

Times of departure: 9.30 – 11.00 am- 2.00 -3.30 pm

Gig trips in the Harbor of Villefranche from the Port of la Darse – 1-hour duration

 

  • GUIDED TOURS OF THE DARSE BY THE ASPMV: 1-hour duration = Meet under the last Vault of the Darse – Times of Tours: 10.30 – 11.30 am – 2.30 – 3.30 pm – French/English

 

  • GUIDED TOURS OF THE EXHIBITIONS AT THE GARE MARITIME
    by the Association the Americans and the Sixth Fleet: 15min duration

Times of visits: from 9.30 am to 12.00 noon and from 2.00 to 4.30 pm – French/English

 

  • From 5.30 to 7.00 pm: AUDITORIUM of the CITADELLE – free entrance – 160 seats

i The conferences will be filmed in their entirety by Lucas Bosc, student at the ESRA Côte d’Azur

  • Unveiling and screening of photos by Olivier Jude with the Anao Club, for Villefranche & seafarers – duration 10 minutes
  • Screening of the video directed by Lucas Bosc for Villefranche & seafarers – duration 5min
  • Conference of Michelle Icard and Paul-Jo Masnata for the ASPMV: “Seafarers of Villefranche” – 30 minutes
  • Conference of Nathalie Molines for the Association The Americans and the Sixth Fleet –
    45 minutes “The US Navy and the French Riviera during the Cold War Issues, Organization and Impact of the American Navy on the coastline of the French Riviera, from Theoule-sur-Mer to Menton (1948-1967).”
    The idea is to show the rationale behind the ports of call and the Villefranche base in the overall strategy of the Sixth fleet in the Mediterranean, the structures of the American presence which stemmed from it and their consequences on the region and population.

 

  • 7.00 pm: A FRIENDLY GLASS OFFERED BY THE MUNICIPALITY OF VILLEFRANCHE-SUR-MER
