  • Sixth Fleet Book of Memories: online book based on the memories of the Sixth Fleet in Villefranche-sur-Mer transmitted by veterans, their families and the local population. This project is led by Philip Roberts, former officer who served aboard the USS Des Moines
  • Communication: Development of the free audio guide Villefranche-sur-Mer and the US Sixth Fleet:
    • Communication to tourism offices, partner associations, merchants, etc. by means of a bilingual leaflet
    • New thematic visits to be carried out in 2022 in partnership with local associations
  • Educational project for primary schools: the second part of the project will be carried out in the first semester of 2022 in the form of an exhibition (see details of the project in the TRANSMISSION chapter)
  • Volunteering of an American student in partnership with the France Langue school: participation in the ongoing projects, transmission of the History in France and in the USA through American universities partnered with France Langue

EVENTS

  • Participation in the naval flower battle in partnership with the ABPV
  • July 4th Independence Day:  organization in partnership with the municipality of Villefranche-sur-Mer
  • Welcome of the veterans of the Sixth fleet and their families visiting Villefranche

TRANSMISSION

  • Project to create a video game based on the history of the American presence in the Mediterranean
  • Multidisciplinary project for schools with 9th grade classes as part of the history program about the Cold War *:
    • Creation of a treasure hunt
    • Screening of films and interviews
    • Provision of the traveling exhibition
    • Meetings with Veterans and their families
  • Editing and subtitling of filmed interviews (conducted in January 2017) for use in colleges, integration into the web documentary, the virtual museum and later in the Museum
  • Interventions for primary schools: Museum at school in partnership with the DAAC (academic delegation for artistic education and cultural action) for the 2021-2022 school year:
    • Provision of heritage documents and objects allowing pupils to appropriate the elements of local history related to the American presence on the French Riviera
    • Support for the creation and implementation of a temporary exhibition by the pupils in the Citadel of Villefranche

DEVELOPMENT

  • Development of the scientific and cultural project of the future Museum dedicated to the history of the American presence on the French Riviera: the creation of a steering committee for the phase of theoretical scientific studies is necessary for the implementation of the museum site *
  • Enrichment and classification of the digital archive collection that can be used as much in the Museum space as in thematic exhibitions, virtual museum and publication of future works
  • Inauguration of the permanent exhibition space aboard the floating museum of the USS Salem in Quincy, Ma and the USS Little Rock in Buffalo, NY in the USA with the perspective and objective to pair the museums*
  • Development of our 2nd association based in the state of Massachusetts in the United States in partnership with naval museums and veterans’ associations of the Sixth Fleet
  • Participation in events related to the US Navy on the French Riviera: Memorial Day at the American cemetery of Draguignan, commemoration of the landing in Provence in Theoule and Draguignan, Navy Day with the Franco-American association of the Admiral de Grasse.
