A very beautiful evening!
The World Premiere of our documentary film HOME AWAY FROM HOME was organized in partnership with the Town of Villefranche-sur-Mer in the presence of the directors Hugo Le Gourrierec and Florent Plana, the composer Baptiste Leblanc, and Nicolas Marcel, student at ESRA Côte d’Azur accompanied by his Director, Thierry Collard, and his lecturer and film’s co-producer, Frédéric Lamasse.
First of all, our Chair, Valérie Blouin thanked the partners and sponsors of the event and introduced the young directors whose passionate remarks moved the audience. Then our guest of honor, Captain Max Miller, U.S. Sixth Fleet liaison officer, representing the commander of the Sixth Fleet, Vice-Admiral Christopher W. Grady, made a remarkable speech emphasizing the time-honored links between Villefranche and the Sixth Fleet. The Mayor of Villefranche-sur-Mer Christophe Trojani spoke to highlight the support of THALES UNDERWATER SYSTEMS without which this event could not have happened and also Eric Dulière and the whole Anao team who directed the salvaging of the anchor, and of course, Cornelis Van Vliet, Chair of the US Navy League who was with us throughout the organization of the event and our main link with the Sixth Fleet.
We were honored by the presence of several representatives from the cities of Beaulieu-sur-Mer, Saint-Jean Cap Ferrat and Beausoleil.
Most of all, the film received an ovation and the whole team took to the stage to thank the audience.
The buffet provided by the Municipality and our sponsors CHAMPAGNE TAITTINGER and CHATEAU SAINTE-ROSELINE made this event a glamorous evening which guests greatly appreciated. Our partner, AUTOMOBILE CLASSIC CARS CLUB was there with 2 magnificent cars driven by Club members and their Chair, Tom Brault. The lovely So Nice Pin-Ups posed with the guests and Bud’s Bubbles played jazz standards throughout the evening.
It was also the occasion to unveil our Souvenir Book “The U.S. Sixth Fleet returns to Villefranche-sur-Mer”
